01Foal handling

4–5 sessions a week for 2–3 weeks

We gradually introduce the foal to human contact and everyday handling: wearing a halter, leading quietly, standing still, lifting its feet and accepting grooming. We also prepare it for veterinary handling. This work usually takes place around weaning, with the mare present when needed.

These are introduced gradually according to each horse’s confidence and progress.
